Curricula and System of Study
Syllabus
Years of study cover a group of primary courses that all students should pass. Students are also offered a group of elective courses to choose between according to their concentration. These elective courses are necessary to complete the number of hours in accordance with the rules of registration set by the faculty board. The hours of study in each course should not be less that 3 hours per week, in addition to practical and research sessions.
Distribution of courses
Study takes place each academic year over two 16-week terms. A summer term of no less than 8 weeks may be held based on a decision by the Academy's Scientific Board. Academic terms may be shortened based on a decision by the academy scientific board - with a prior recommendation from the faculty board. Hours of study, however, should not be less than 15 hours per credit hour each term. This does not include the stages of advising, registration and final exams.
Organization and System of study
- System of study
• Study depends on linking theory with practical applications, as well as active participation of students.
• Focus is on educating students scientifically and practically to make them capable of tackling practical issues and proposing solutions independently and freely.
• Students are encouraged to acquire information about the development of management in Egypt and foreign countries and given the opportunity to mix with diverse cultures.
• Students are given a certain degree of academic freedom to choose courses that suit their interests.
- Duration of Study
The duration of study at Sadat Academy is at least 4 years to obtain a B.Sc. degree in accordance with the system of credit hours rather than academic years. This gives students a degree of freedom in choosing their courses. It also helps them to develop their ability to think and share responsibility for their education by choosing and distributing courses that suit their specialization with the help of an academic advisor. These choices are accredited by the Dean of the Faculty or his deputy. Students also spend a six-month period of training at organizations and companies provided by the academy; this period is divided into 4 periods of one month and a half per year. The first term starts in the second week of September and ends in the last week of January. The second term starts in the first week of February and ends at the end of the second week of June.
Evaluation of Students
Students are evaluated in all courses to obtain a B.Sc. of management sciences according to the following regulations:
• Final exams represent 40% of the total mark and are held at the end of each term as written exams lasting 3 hours each. For students to pass any    course they must attend the final exam and get at least 25% of the marks.
• Midterm exams represent 30% of the total mark and are held in the middle of the term as written exams lasting 2 hours.
• Research and practical assignments represent 30% of the total mark. This percentage is distributed according to the type of course. In all cases, students are evaluated by a committee consisting of at least two faculty members.

Conditions for Awarding a Bachelor Degree

First class honors are awarded to students who achieve a GPA of no less than 4 and second class honors are awarded to students who achieve a GPA of between 3.6 and 4.  To achieve honors the following conditions apply:

a. To have studied a minimum of 75% of the requirements for graduation and not to have failed any course during the period of study at the academy.
b. To have completed graduation requirements in a duration no less than that stipulated.
Failing and the Grade "incomplete"
1- If a student does not attend the final exam, he/she is considered to have failed the course.
2- If there is a serious and legitimate reason accepted by the faculty board for not attending the exam and the student has previously passed the quizzes and midterm exams and has not exceeded the absence limit, the student is graded as "Incomplete". In this case, the student will have to re-register in this course (or courses) at the beginning of the following term.
3- In application of the item (2) above the following must be considered:
a- Taking into consideration the number of credit hours of the course (or courses) where the student has been graded "Incomplete" when deciding the new academic load.
b- Students are not allowed to drop a course or courses for which they have re-registered.
c- Students must erase the grade "Incomplete" during the following term or during the final exams by taking an exam that is set for them in agreement with the concerned Academic Department and the Deputy Dean.
Academic probation
1- If a student's GPA is lower than 0.75 at the end of the second term of his/her study at the academy or at any time until graduation the Dean of the Faculty puts him/her under probation based on a report from the Deputy Dean. The Student Affairs Department then informs the parents of the student by sending them a copy of the academic probation document.
2- The academic load given to this student is reduced to the minimum (12 hours)
3- Students under academic probation must remove the effects of this probation during the two subsequent terms by increasing their GPA to at least 1. 4- If students fail to increase their GPA to the accepted minimum during the assigned time, they are allowed to register only in the courses in which they have failed. In the case of elective courses students under probation can choose to register in an alternative course; if this course is successfully completed it is counted instead of the original one. Students have two chances to remove themselves from probation. Students are not allowed to drop courses more than once for each course in the first 4 terms; in all cases, the maximum duration of study for the first 4 terms is 4 years and the maximum duration of study for the last 4 terms is five years. Students can obtain a dual B.Sc. degrees in the concentrations offered by SAMS after completing all academic requirements of the two concentrations. The Academy Board decides on the regulations necessary for completing the requirements of the dual concentration based on a proposal from the faculty board.
Graduation projects
To obtain a Bachelor degree in management sciences students must prepare a research paper in their field of concentration that proves their independent academic search abilities. The paper should be no longer than 60 pages and is written under the registered supervision of a professor or assistant professor who is currently teaching. The graduation project may be submitted to review during the last two terms; the evaluation of the project is carried out by the supervisor or by one of the professors or assistant professors currently teaching and chosen by the supervisor.
Grading of the graduation project is carried out according to the rules of grading out of a total mark of 200.
